Toddler Found Wandering on Rose Avenue

Just before 1 pm, a caller reported a toddler wandering up Columbia Avenue in West Portsmouth. Deputies located the child on Russell, and it told them it could not find its dad. 

The father came to pick up the child, and deputies advised him to keep a better eye on the child.

Dog Left Alone in Home When Owners Move Out

A worried neighbor contacted police just after 8 pm to report that someone had moved out of a 7th Street home and left a dog behind inside. The caller said the dog had been left there for a week. 

Officers were unable to get into the house to check on the dog. They said they would notify Animal Control about the animal and Code Enforcement about the condition of the house. 

Shots Reported on Rarden-Hazelbaker Road

Just after midnight on Saturday, a caller reported hearing six shots from a neighbor’s trailer and then spotted a vehicle speeding up the road. 

Police stopped a truck and discovered the driver had an open warrant from Pike County and fictitious tags on the vehicle. 

However, it turned out the warrant was not valid. Officers issued a warning on the traffic stop and continued to search the area for signs of anything suspicious. They found no evidence of anything suspicious. 

Man in Bathrobe Stops Traffic on St. Rte 772

At 7 am, callers reported a man was wearing a bathrobe standing in the middle of St. Rt. 772.

Other callers told people the person appeared to be an elderly male. 

A deputy responded to the scene and dropped the man off at his home.
