Toddler Found Wandering Twice in Two Days in Wayne Hills

Just after 4 pm, a caller reported finding a toddler wandering without any adults around in Wayne Hills. Officers located the child’s mother at a Thomas Avenue Apartment.

They noted no signs of mistreatment and said the apartment was clean. The child had managed to unlock the door while its mother was cooking dinner and left.

However, the next day around the same time, the child was found wandering near the Wayne Hills Rental Office.

Again, police saw no sign of neglect. Officers said the children were at the playground, and one of them got away. Officers said the mother had friends watch her other children while she searched for the missing one.

Police noted the woman was carrying for three children, one of whom is disabled, on her own and seemed to be overwhelmed.

Officers advised her of some options for assistance and warned her that she cannot let it happen again.

Missing Child Recovered on Mabert Road

A concerned grandfather contacted Portsmouth Police at 3:45 pm to ask for help in locating his grandson who had been reported missing.

The man said he believed the boy was at an address on Mabert Road with a woman. An officer responded to the scene and found the boy.

The child’s guardian came to pick him up.
