Tragedy: Reports Say Driver Dies While Still Traveling on the Road

Tragic Discovery

The Portsmouth Police received an urgent call at 9:20 on Friday evening. The caller reported that a vehicle was on the road in the 5400 Wilson Ave in Sciotoville, with a driver who appeared to be passed out. The vehicle was running and in drive.

Portsmouth Police as well as Portsmouth Medic 4 headed to the scene.

Medic 4 arrived on the scene first. After a few minutes, they called for the supervisor to respond. They indicated that the driver was in full code.

New Boston medics offered to assist and the supervisor accepted their offer.

Police wanted to make sure the record showed that this was a medical issue and not an overdose. A detective on call was contacted to assist them in their investigation.

To try to contact the next of kin, they ran the registration. The calls were not immediately answered.

Any details about the driver or the vehicle will not be made public until the proper notifications are made.

The driver was transported to SOMC. Uncertainty remains as to whether they succeeded in reviving the driver or simply transported the body for medical examination and for the family to respond safely after being contacted.

SCDN will continue to follow this tragic story and will provide updates as they become available.
