Trailer Drama in West Portsmouth Prompts 911 Call

911 dispatcher

A tense scene unfolded in West Portsmouth when deputies were called after reports that a man had reached through a window to assault a woman and was threatening to hook up a trailer and drag it down the road.

Scioto County Sheriff’s deputies rushed to the scene expecting a volatile situation. But after talking with everyone involved, the truth turned out to be less dramatic.

Civil Disputes vs. Crimes

Deputies determined that no one had been injured, no weapons were involved, and the matter was actually a civil dispute between neighbors. Officers reminded all parties to stay off each other’s property and keep the peace.

A Reminder for Residents

Cases like this are a good example of why things aren’t always what they seem when 911 calls come in. While deputies will always respond quickly to keep people safe, they cannot resolve property or ownership disputes—that’s a matter for civil court, not law enforcement.

Still, when tempers flare, a quick police response can keep arguments from boiling over into violence.
