The owner of a local trash pickup company says they are not going out of business, “Shawnee Disposal has not gone out of business regardless of the talk and rumors flying around.” According to the owner, a mix-up and mechanical issues were behind a series of delayed or missed trash pick-ups that had some clients concerned the company had shut its doors.
The owner said they were out of town for work and had made arrangements for someone to answer calls and messages. However, that plan didn’t work out. At the same time, one of the company’s trucks was in the shop for repairs, causing pickups to be delayed.
The owner apologized for the lack of communication with customers, “I will be working accounts and route sheets all weekend. For those customers we lost, I hate it this happened but I understand your leaving. Maybe someday we can earn back your trust.”
The owner lamented that customers are willing to allow national chains to mess up over and over, but when small businesses make mistakes, they are relentlessly attacked.
“Not downplaying our shortcomings. I stand by the fact that we picked up the pieces when other companies closed. “
