🚨 Triple-Car Crash Ends in DUI Bust — Repeat Offender Hauled to Jail

DUI Driver Arrested After Wreck at Elementary School

A late-night wreck on Mound Street ended with one man in handcuffs and three cars banged up, after police say alcohol was the real driver behind the chaos.

Just before 10 p.m., stunned residents in the 1300 block of Mound Street called 911 to report a multi-vehicle collision. When officers arrived, they found three cars involved and quickly identified Hubert Yelley as the alleged cause of the crash.

Yelley, who refused to take a sobriety test, was taken into custody on suspicion of Operating a Vehicle Impaired (OVI). Officers impounded his vehicle, citing visible signs of impairment and failure to control.

This wasn’t Yelley’s first run-in with the law. Court records show a conviction for disorderly conduct back in June 2021, along with a rap sheet that includes charges for receiving stolen property, breaking and entering, petty theft, and a long list of traffic violations.

Repeat Offenders and the Risk on the Roads

Crashes like this are a stark reminder of the danger repeat offenders pose when they get behind the wheel under the influence. Police say they’re cracking down harder than ever to keep Portsmouth streets safe.

What to Watch For:

If you suspect someone is driving under the influence, call 911 immediately — your quick action could prevent the next tragedy.

As for Yelley, he’s now cooling his heels in the Scioto County Jail, facing OVI charges and yet another entry in a growing criminal history.
