On August 28, 2023, Kentucky State Police (KSP), Morehead investigated a fatal collision involving a pedestrian on Interstate 64 in Rowan County.
Through the investigation, Troopers determined that an individual left the eastbound shoulder on foot attempting to cross the eastbound lanes. Michael Southern, 59 years of age from Chillicothe, Ohio was traveling eastbound operating a 2020 Volvo commercial vehicle when the individual crossed in front of him.
Mr. Southern tried to avoid striking the person but was unable to. The individual has been identified as Linda Reid, 29 years of age from Morehead, Ky.
Ms. Reid was pronounced deceased at the scene by Rowan County Coroner John Northcutt. KSP was assisted by Rowan County EMS and Rowan County Rescue.
This collision remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police, Morehead.
