Deputies say a dispute over the television at a local rehabilitation facility turned violent, leaving one man injured and another in handcuffs.
Staff reported that one client attacked another while he was lying on the couch. Witnesses told deputies the assault began after an argument about the TV. The victim suffered visible injuries to his face and nose, and EMS crews treated him on the scene before transporting him to the hospital. He later signed a statement confirming he wanted to press charges.
Deputies noted blood on the couch and found the victim’s broken glasses, also streaked with blood. Photos of the injuries and the scene were taken for evidence.
The suspect fled the facility on foot, but deputies spotted a man matching the description walking near the South Point baseball fields. He was detained without incident and transported back to the facility before being arrested and taken to the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office.
Initially, the suspect refused to speak, but later admitted he struck the victim, claiming the man used profanity and “got in his face.”
