Two Motorcycles Involved in 3 Vehicle Crash

On Thursday evening, three people were involved in a serious motorcycle accident. Just before 5 pm 911 dispatchers received a call alerting them to a three-vehicle crash on Lang Slocum Road, near Hammerstein Road. A Ford Fusion and two motorcycles were involved in the crash.

Danny Smith, 28, of New Boston, was riding a 2003 Yamaha motorcycle, while Austin W. Hodge, 21, of West Portsmouth, was operating a 2005 Honda motorcycle. Both motorcycles went left of center and collided with a Ford Fusion driven by Crystal Smith, 44, of Scioto Furnace. Mr. Smith received treatment at the scene for his injuries after the crash, but Ms. Smith wasn’t injured.

Mr. Hodge suffered head injuries and was transported by Porter Township EMS to Southern Ohio Medical Center. He was later transferred to a Columbus hospital to receive further treatment. There was no suspicion of impairment in the accident, according to the authorities.

An investigation is still underway to determine what caused the accident.
