Underwear Bandit Leaves Car at Homeless Shelter

The man behind a weekend crime spree left a little something behind at the 17th Street Armory Homeless Shelter this weekend.

Just before 10 am on Saturday, an employee of the facility contacted police to report that a vehicle belonging to Devonta Mitchell was left behind at the facility, and they suspected it might be stolen.

On Saturday, Devonta Mitchell stole a vehicle from the AutoZone on Gallia and drove it to Stout, where he robbed the Shawnee Grocery.

Mitchell wore a pair of underwear on his head while he pulled a gun on the clerk. However, Scioto County Sheriff’s Deputies took the Kentucky man into custody shortly after.

Officers determined the vehicle at the homeless shelter was not stolen and advised the facility to have it towed.
