Workers at the Huntington Cabell Wayne Animal Shelter say a miracle pup found tossed out next to the dumpster has been discharged from the hospital and is happily settled into a foster home.

We first told you about the dog, now called Shelby, who was near death from starvation when rescuers discovered her. The eight-year-old dog was too weak to stand but the folks who saved her could already tell she had a winning personality and loved to be petted.

They shared heartbreaking photos of the beautiful dog clinging to life as they raised funds to pay for her medical expenses. In her latest pictures, she looks bright-eyed and excited to be out of the hospital.

Vets were concerned earlier in the week that she was showing signs of internal bleeding but her latest medical test results are looking good but she’ll head back to the hospital for a checkup in a couple of weeks.

Shelby “on the mend”, but still critical.

They report that Shelby is eating well, putting on weight, and still loves to be cuddled.

Shelby now. Such a wonderful and amazing comebackShe’s been busy making it clear to the humans, dogs, and cats in her new foster home, just who’s in charge.
