Uvon Bowen, 84, of Sciotoville, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2024, at his residence. He was born February 7, 1939, a son of the late Clifford and Pheobe (Mollett) Bowen.
He was a US Navy veteran and formerly worked at Dayton Foundry in the maintenance Department. He was a member of Camp Bennett Christian Baptist Church, enjoyed reading the Bible, cutting grass, working in the yard, and was known as a Tinkerer.
Uvon is survived by 2 daughters, Lavonda Worthington, Anita Fannin and husband Jeff all of Sciotoville; a sister, Phyllis Ann Hoover of Leaksville, Miss. and a brother DeFort Bowen of Alabama; 4 grandchildren, Jeffrey (Tiffany) Fannin, Kayla Mays, Kyle Bailey and Mykkia Worthington; 3 great-grandchildren, Brady Hadsell, Colton Fannin and Mayleigh Mays.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Lewis Bowen, 2 brothers, Hermy Bowen and Forrest Bowen.
Funeral Services will be at 1:00 PM Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in Wheelersburg with Pastor Rick Mollett officiating. Interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery with graveside Military Honors by James Dickey Post 23, American Legion. Visitation will be from 12 Noon to 1 PM on Tuesday prior to services at the funeral home.
