Violet “Ruth” McCleese, 78, of Lucasville, went to be with the Lord on December 10th at Hillview Retirement Center in Portsmouth, Ohio.
Ruth was born July 19, 1945, at home in Lucasville to the late John “Mac” and Violet Johnson Campbell. Ruth was married to the love of her life, the late Eugene McCleese for over 19 years. Ruth was preceded in death by sisters: Mary, Kathleen, Theda, and brothers: John, Paul, Malcolm (Bud), Nick, and Don.
After graduating from Piketon High School, she attended Mercy Hospital Medical Technology classes and graduated from Shawnee State with an Associate Degree in Medical Technology. Ruth was employed at Southern Ohio Medical Center for 20+ years and retired from the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant with 24+ years of service. Ruth loved to travel with her family and friends and was an avid gardener of flowers and vegetables.
Ruth is survived by three brothers: Charles (Nancy) Campbell, David Campbell, and William “Lou” Campbell. Although Ruth had no children of her own, she shared a special bond with her nieces/nephews, great nieces/nephews, cousins, her stepson Tony (Michelle) McCleese and stepdaughter Tammy (Dan) Reiser, and many cherished friends.
There will be no service or viewing at this time, but a Celebration of Life will be scheduled in the spring of 2024.
