Portsmouth Police Officers responded to multiple reports of individuals under the influence and in crisis, including a visitor who overdosed in a hospital lobby.
Around 6 am, witnesses reported a woman who appeared to be “messed up on something” wandering in the area of Argonne Road. Officers spoke to the woman, who appeared to be in the midst of a mental health crisis. They said she’d fallen down, cut her hands, and wanted to go to KDMC for treatment. An officer gave her a ride to the hospital.
At 3:30 pm, a caller reported an apparently high woman at 6th and Chillicothe Street. When officers caught up with the woman, they said she was coming down off her high and wasn’t intoxicated enough to be a danger to herself or others.
They convinced the woman to go to rehab and gave her a ride to Day One to start her journey to recovery.
Just after 11 pm, a caller reported a patient’s visitor overdosing in SOMC’s East Campus. An ambulance transported the woman to the nearby main hospital for treatment.
