Walter Ernest “Walt” Jarrells, 86, of Stout, passed away Monday, June 3, 2024, at The Courtyard at Wheelersburg Assisted Living Center. He was born July 4, 1937, in West Portsmouth to the late Jack and Thelma “Timmie” (Williams) Jarrells.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, a brother, Jackie Joe Jarrells, and an infant grandson.
Walt was a long-time member of the Masonic Lodge, an Army Reserve Veteran, a member of Pond Run Baptist Church and later attended Friendship United Methodist Church.
He was a retired electrical contractor (1975-1997). Prior to that he worked as a foreman over the Blast Furnace for Detroit Steel/Empire Detroit Steel (1955-1974).
Walt loved fishing, golf, and, above all, his family.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 66 years, Nancy Hamilton Jarrells; 2 children, Molly Jarrells (Jack) Clevenger of Portsmouth and Jason Allen (Erin) Jarrells of Atlanta, Ga.; 4 grandchildren, Emily Sparks (Matthew) Loesch and Andy (Ashlee) Sparks of Stout, Meghan and Grant Jarrells of Atlanta, 3 great-grandchildren; Eric and Graham Loesch and Creed Sparks of Stout, and many friends and loved ones.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth.
