Take a good look at the guy in the picture. The Scioto County Sheriff says he’s the man who kidnapped and beat an 84-year-old man back in February.
We told you how a woman called from a Highland Bend Road home and said that an elderly man had shown up at her door saying that he’d been robbed and beaten.
When detectives arrived on the scene, the victim told them that he’d come home to his house on Dixon Mill Road around 7:30 pm and discovered a man inside. The suspect demanded money and then dragged the victim to the basement where he was tied up, blindfolded, and beaten. According to the victim, his attacker appeared to be on drugs.
The victim was able to get loose and tried to escape, only to find that the man was still in the house. The attacker continued to assault his elderly victim.
The lowlife then forced the old man into the trunk of his own vehicle, a white 1999 Oldsmobile, and drove him to the Highland Bend Road area. In addition to being a bad human being, the suspect appears to also be a bad driver, since he managed to drive the vehicle into a creek.
His elderly victim was trapped in the trunk for some time but was eventually able to escape and walk to a nearby home. He was taken to SOMC for treatment and later released.
Now, after what Sheriff Marty V. Donini calls “countless hours” on investigation, law enforcement says they know who was behind the horrible crime.
Captain John Murphy says as a result of the hard work of detectives and evidence sent to to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal investigation, they have a suspect.
Charges have been issued for Thomas A. Glass, 41, of Wheelersburg. His last known address is 2461 State Route 140. Glass has also been known to stay in the Highland Bend area and Sciotoville.
Officers warn that he is a dangerous man. Deputies, Scioto County Drug Force Officers, and the PPD SWAT Team were search for him at several locations today.
