Wanted Woman Runs From Police, Gets Caught 10 Minutes Later

Wanted woman runs from police

A woman wanted on an open theft warrant took off running when Portsmouth police spotted her on 17th Street, but she did not get far.

Officers saw Josylynn Ishmael at approximately 11 a.m. and attempted to make contact with her.

Police said Ishmael ran from officers on foot.

They located her approximately 10 minutes later and took her into custody on the theft warrant. She was also charged with obstructing official business in connection with the foot pursuit.

Court records show Ishmael also has open charges involving theft, fictitious registration, driving without a license, resisting arrest, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

She appeared in Portsmouth Municipal Court, where a judge ordered her held in jail under bond.

A pretrial hearing is scheduled for July 9.

The charges are allegations. Ishmael is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
