Officers turned up drugs and a loaded gun during a raid on a local home today. As a result, a West Portsmouth man was arrested on drugs and weapons charges. Portsmouth Police Chief Debby Brewer and Scioto County Sheriff Marty Donini announced the bust Friday afternoon.
The joint operation was conducted after an investigation by the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force. The task force officers joined Portsmouth Police S.W.A.T. officers to execute a drug search warrant at a West Portsmouth home.
According to Sheriff Donini, the search went down just around 11:30 am at the 15th Street residence of Shane Ray Mosley.
Officers searched the home and property. Here’s what they found:
- Suspected Fentanyl
- Loaded nine-millimeter handgun
- Digital scales
- $1,128 in cash
The Charges
Mosley, 34, was arrested and charged with:
- Trafficking of drugs within the vicinity of a juvenile
- Having a weapon while under disability
Trafficking of Drugs within the vicinity of a juvenile is a second-degree felony. Having a Weapon While Under Disability, is a third-degree felony.
Mosley also had an outstanding warrant with Portsmouth Municipal Court for domestic violence.
In Jail
Officer took him to the Scioto County Jail where he’s held on a holder placed by the Portsmouth Municipal Court Probation Department. He’s expected to be arraigned in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Monday, August 3, 2020, at 9 am.
The Sheriff’s Office said the case against Mosley will be forwarded to the Scioto County Prosecutor’s Office to be presented to a Scioto County Grand Jury. The Grand Jury could add additional felony charges.
Chief Brewer and Sheriff Donini also thanked tactical medics from the Portsmouth Fire Department for helping out on the scene.
