A fire on City View Avenue left a West Portsmouth family without a place to live.
Just after 7 pm, a call came in for a structure fire. The Washington Township Fire Department reported someone might be trapped in the home and requested help from Rush, Nile, and South Shore Fire Departments.
Fortunately, everyone who lived in the home was accounted for within 20 minutes. Authorities contacted the Red Cross to assist the family and called AEP to turn off the power. The fire appeared to be out by 8 pm.
About two hours later, the home began to smoke again, and firefighters returned to the scene to knock it back.
