Who left this dog to die? WARNING: graphic images

I’m going to warn you upfront that there are some really sad photos in this article of a deceased dog. It’s not gory in any way, it just looks like it’s sleeping, but if that upsets you, don’t look at them.

Here’s what happened. Someone left a dog carrier with a dog locked inside in a field on Hospital Road in Green Township in Ross County. The carrier was discovered on Tuesday morning, but the poor animal was already dead inside the carrier.

Obviously, folks at the Ross County Humane Society are furious about this. They’re offering a $500 reward for any information that will allow them to find the person or persons who abandoned this poor animal so they can be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. As a spokesperson for the Ross County Humane Society said, “There is no acceptable reason for this to have happened.”

The dog is smallish, light brown in color, and was left in a bluish-gray carrier.

Anyone with information is asked to call the dog warden at 740-772-5929. If you have an animal you can no longer care for, the Ross County Humane Society has a surrender program. You can fill out a form online to submit an animal for consideration. There is a $50 surrender fee.
