Wilma Jean Whitaker

Wilma Jean Whitaker, 84, of South Webster, passed away Friday May 3, 2025  at home after a long illness. She was born June 4, 1940 in Portsmouth a daughter of the late Ralph and Goldie (Shoemaker) Dodds.

She was a devoted member of the former Grace United Methodist Church where she also served as a Sunday School Teacher. She graduated from South Webster High School as a Valedictorian and graduated from Rio Grande College with a Bachelor of Education Degree. As a teacher in the public school system for over 30 years, her dedication to education made a difference for many. Her community involvement extended to the Red Hat Society and the Over 55 Club in South Webster.

Wilma is survived by two sons, Dan Whitaker and wife Jackie of South Webster, Dale Whitaker and wife Carol of Catlettsburg, KY; a sister, Ruth Humprey and husband Ken of Wheelersburg; grandchildren, Jacob Whitaker of Lexington, KY, Lauren (Jarod) Hall of Richmond, KY, Kylen (Lena) Webb of Ashland, KY and Shalyn (Allen) Adams of Morehead, KY, 3 great grandchildren, Lynden, Delaney and Grant.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday May 7, 2025 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in South Webster with Pastor Ronnie Litz officiating. Interment will follow at South Webster Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 AM to 1 PM prior to services on Wednesday.
