Portsmouth Police Officers responded to a wild scene on Mayo Street over the weekend.  Just after 4:30 pm, the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office forwarded a call to Portsmouth Dispatch about a woman chasing people with a hatchet on Mayo Street.

A few minutes later, a woman called to say her sister-in-law had a gun and wanted to know if it would be okay to shoot her.

Officers caught up with Sarah Howard, 42, near Sciotoville Community School and took her into custody for disorderly conduct and felonious assault.

This was Howard’s 8th time in the Scioto County Jail. Previous arrests include multiple probation violations, burglary, and forgery.
