More trouble hit Tracy Park when police were called for a report of a person exposed and lying in the park.
The call came in around 3 p.m.
Officers responded and took one woman into custody.
Police arrested Chrystal Johnson on charges of public indecency and probation violation and booked her into the Scioto County Jail.
Johnson later appeared in Portsmouth Municipal Court, where she pleaded no contest. She was sentenced to three days in jail and a fine, but both were suspended.
The court also ordered her to stay out of Walmart.
She was then released back onto the streets.
Court records show Johnson was also convicted of disorderly conduct in June and criminal trespass in July.
The arrest came during another messy day at Tracy Park.
Police said trash cans in the park had been full for some time and described it as an ongoing issue. Officers contacted City Service and cleaned up trash throughout the park themselves.
According to the police log, officers collected three bags of trash, along with other items.
The call adds to the growing list of Tracy Park problems: people sleeping in the park, drug complaints, trash piling up, after-hours activity, and now a public indecency arrest in the middle of the afternoon.
For families, kids, and residents who want to use the park, it is frustrating.
For police, it is another round of dealing with public behavior, homelessness, addiction, mental health concerns, and nuisance complaints in one of the city’s most visible public spaces.
And for the person arrested, the cycle continued: jail, court, suspended sentence, and back outside again.
