Officers Escort Frightened Woman Home

A woman contacted police at 1:28 am to report her ex was hanging around the store where she worked and was now parked in the back of the building.

She said he usually carries a gun, and she was afraid to leave the building, even though he made no direct threats.

An officer stood by while she got into her vehicle and followed her home to make sure she was okay.

Gunshots on Sherman Road

Just before 4 am, a caller contacted police to report he heard a gunshot on Sherman Road. He looked outside and spotted two men with a gun in a white car. He also said he found a shell casing.

Officers went to the scene and impounded the shell casing. They couldn’t find any evidence the shot hit the house or a vehicle.

Blackmail Attempt

A woman contacted police at 12:34 pm to report someone attempted to blackmail her husband.

She said a woman had attempted to force him to send Apple Pay cards

An officer took information for a report.

Newborn in Danger?

A caller contacted police to report unlivable conditions in a 7th Street home. The caller said a new baby had been brought home that day to a filthy house littered with dog feces that had no heat.

An officer went to the home to speak to the resident. Police said there was no dog feces and only one animal in the home. Police said the home had electricity and space heaters. The call appeared to be unfounded.

Woman Flees Hospital Wearing Only a Blanket

A woman fled the SOMC ER wearing only a blanket at 2:32 pm.

A Timlin Road resident reported a shoeless woman wearing a blanket in their backyard shortly after that. The woman was then spotted in the 2400 block of Micklewaite about 8 minutes later.

At 2:47 pm, the hospital advised police the woman had returned to the ER.

Dog Attack Reported

A man contacted PPD at 3 pm to report a dog attempted to attack him and his dog while they were out for a walk.

He said the dog belonged to a neighbor who allowed the animal to run free even though it is aggressive.

Police spoke with the owner, whom they described as very irate, who admitted that her dogs get outside sometimes. Police said they would contact animal control.
