WOMAN INDICTED ON NINE COUNTS OF CHILD ENDANGERMENT AFTER BABY SUFFERS HORRIFIC INJURIES

Kayla Willimas

A local mother is facing serious charges after a 9-month-old baby in her care was found with multiple severe injuries, leading to an indictment on nine counts of child endangerment. Plus, new information points to a sex offender involved in this horrific incident.

Kayla Williams, 30, of New Boston, was arrested in January after a chilling sequence of events that began when the child was brought into King’s Daughter’s Medical Center. Medical staff discovered multiple injuries on the infant, including broken bones, a black eye, and other signs of abuse. Despite being advised to take the child to Nationwide Hospital in Columbus for urgent care, Williams failed to follow through, prompting a call to local authorities.

Concerned for the child’s safety, Scioto County Children Services and the New Boston Police Department reached out to the Scioto County Special Victims Unit for assistance. Hours later, when the child was still not at the Columbus hospital, a warrant was issued for Williams’ arrest.

The infant was removed from the home and rushed to SOMC before being transferred to Nationwide Children’s Hospital for treatment. Doctors confirmed that the baby had been hurt on two separate occasions, with some of the injuries dating back as much as 10 days.

Following the investigation, detectives charged Williams with seven counts of endangering children, later adding two more counts after further findings. Williams was arrested and held on a $350,000 bond at the Scioto County Jail. She remains behind bars.

Breaking Update:

The press was notified on Tuesday that the Scioto County Grand Jury had indicted Williams on a new total of nine counts of endangering children. In addition, registered sex offender Sammy Nash was charged with nine counts of child endangerment. Nash was convicted of his sexual crime in West Virginia. He is 54, which is quite an age difference with Williams. At this time, we’re not privy to the exact relationship between the two.

Williams is set to face an arraignment on April 2 in Scioto County Common Pleas Court. The case has left the community shaken as the investigation continues into what led to these horrific injuries.
