Scioto County Sheriff’s deputies were called to Lucasville for a wellness check after Adult Protective Services said it had not heard from a woman in five days.
APS told deputies it had been unable to make contact with the woman by phone.
When a deputy arrived at the home, an ambulance was requested to check on her.
Squad 2 responded to the scene.
The deputy also requested an additional unit during the call and later spoke with the reporting person from Adult Protective Services.
The woman was ultimately taken to Southern Ohio Medical Center’s emergency room.
No additional details about her condition were included in the information provided.
Wellness checks like this are one of the less visible jobs deputies handle. Sometimes the concern turns out to be nothing more than a dead phone or someone who simply has not checked in.
Other times, a few missed calls can be the first sign that someone needs help.
In this case, APS noticed the woman had gone silent, asked deputies to check on her, and that check ended with a trip to the emergency room.
