Woman Shot on Riddlebarger Road – Boyfriend Arrested and Released By Court

A Portsmouth man spent just a day behind bars after he was charged with a shooting in the early hours of Friday.

According to the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office, a woman called 911 just after 3 am to report a man shot her daughter at a Riddlebarger Road residence.

When deputies and EMS arrived on the scene, they learned the woman’s live-in boyfriend, 52-year-old Reggie Wilson allegedly pulled the trigger. The pair had been arguing, and the man had threatened the woman and pointed a gun in her face before the shooting.  After the incident, the man took off.

EMS personnel transported the victim to SOMC for treatment, and she was later transferred to Saint Mary’s in Huntington, West Virginia.

Deputies learned the man had been spotted shooting a weapon near his wife’s home and also near the home of the victim’s former boyfriend.

On Tuesday, detectives received pictures and video that showed the suspect in the Minford area near his wife’s home and at the location of the shooting.

The Ohio State Patrol spotted the suspect on St. Rt. 335 in Minford and pulled him over. Troopers took him into custody and discovered drugs and a gun in his vehicle.

Wilson was booked into the Scioto County Jail on charges of felonious assault, having weapons under a disability, and drug abuse. He appeared before a Portsmouth Municipal Court judge on Wednesday. The court allowed him to sign his own bond, and he was released from jail.

The investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with information should contact Detective Kirk Jackson at 740-351-1093.
