Young Mom Indicted for Child Endangerment, Drug Charges

A young Portsmouth mother is facing some serious charges after the Scioto County Grand Jury indicted her on multiple charges Friday.

Hope Bentley, 24, faces indictments for endangering children, tampering with evidence, trafficking in fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine, drug possession, possessing criminal tools and having weapons under a disability.

Just after Christmas, police arrested Ms. Bentley after a drug raid at a PMHA Apartment. Members of the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force, assisted by members of PPD SWAT, raided an apartment in the 1300 block of Union Street.

Investigators found more than two pounds of fentanyl, along with crack cocaine, digital scales, and a loaded gun in the residence.

Officers summoned CPS workers to the scene to take custody of a 4-month-old baby after they arrested its mother, 25-year-old Hope Bentley. Police charged Bentley with drug trafficking, possession of drugs, and having a weapon under disability. This was Bentley’s fourth trip to the Scioto County Jail.  Police previously arrested her on assault and contempt charges.

Also arrested was Dayton resident, Reginald Langford, 29.  The Scioto County Grand Jury also indicted him on multiple charges including endangering children, tampering with evidence, having weapons under a disability, trafficking in heroin, fentanyl, and cocaine, drug possession, and possession of criminal tools. Langford is currently on parole for felonious assault involving a weapon. He was released back in July of last year.

Bentley remains in the Scioto County Jail with bond set at $100,000
