Scioto County has been awarded a $500,000 Critical Infrastructure Community Development Block Grant to improve flood and drainage in Franklin Furnace. The project is expected to be completed by August of 2025.
Commissioner Scottie Powell praised County Engineer Darren Lebrun for going after the grant dollars. It’s the first time in a while the county has gone after this bucket of grant money.” He congratulated Lebrun for finding a project that met the criteria of the grant application.
Engineer Lebrun said the project will be a great addition to the community, just like the recently completed school. Like the school, it’s an essential part of the community.”
The commissioners voted unanimously to accept the grant money and begin the project.
