76-year-old Man Charged With Child Porn
A 76-year-old man is behind bars after officers discovered a stash of child pornography in his home over the weekend.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, their deputies teamed up with the Oak Hill Police department to investigate a tip claiming 76-year-old Allen Deverick had child pornography in his home.
The courts issued a search warrant, and officers searched the Oak Hill home on Saturday. Officers say they found a large collection of child pornography with many of the images on the man’s cell phone. They say Deverick admitted that the porn belonged to him.
Police arrested Deverick for pandering obscenity of minors and booked him into the Jackson County Correctional Facility. The Jackson County Prosecutor is reviewing the case for additional charges.
Another Jackson man is also in trouble for sex crime charges involving a minor. A Jackson County Grand Jury indicted 50-year-old Robert J. Nickell for three counts of rape, two counts of sexual battery, and one count of gross sexual imposition.
The Sheriff’s Office says a juvenile family member of Nickell’s told a neighbor that he had attempted to rape her. When officers investigated they discovered that the man had sexually abused the child for several years.
The court set his bond at $200,000.
