85-Year-Old Man Waits 40 Minutes For Ambulance After Fall
An 85-year-old Rosemount man was forced to wait almost an hour for an ambulance after he took a late night fall, despite the best efforts of 911 dispatchers to get help.
The call came in at 2:14 am, reporting that the elderly gentleman had fallen. Dispatch sent two alerts for help to Rosemount Rescue and then two alerts for the second Clay Township station for help.
One rescue squad headed to the scene but needed help from other departments to lift the man and requested an additional squad for another patient found on the scene as well.
Dispatch contacted EMT Ohio, but they didn’t have any crews available. Dispatch then contacted Portsmouth Ambulance, but they did not have a crew available.
The squad contacted Valley EMS for assistance as well as Rosemount FD. There was no answer from Rosemount or Valley FD.
A crew finally arrived on the scene around 2:51 am, but they still needed an additional ambulance for the second patient. Dispatch contacted Minford, which dispatched a crew. By that time, someone decided to transport the second patient to the hospital in a private vehicle.
