Suspects play hide and seek with Cops during bust

A wild scene in Portsmouth on Monday evening led to one suspect attempting to hide from police under some laundry. But that wasn’t the end of bad decisions made during this bizarre bust.

Citizen complaints about drug activity led to more than a dozen individuals being arrested at a home on Fifth Street in Portsmouth Monday evening.

Police arrived on the scene just before 5:30 pm accompanied by PMC probation officers. A probationer at the address had been found to be in violation of terms.

When officers announced themselves, the people inside made a run for it, attempting to flee out windows and the side and back doors but changed their minds when they saw the number of police on the scene.

Officers swept the house and discovered hypodermic needles, baggies, pill bottles, drug scales, and other drug-related items.

Two suspects tried to hide. Floyd Layne, 55, of Portsmouth hid under a pile of clothes and Farrell Mustard, 43, of Wallingford, Kentucky concealed himself in a rolled-up carpet in the basement.

Thirty-year-old Edwin Anthony Mcclurg, of Portsmouth and Layne were found to have warrants and Mustard was arrested for obstructing official business.

Goldie Kozee, 25, and Roy King, 32, both of Portsmouth were taken into custody for probation violation. Kozee added another charge by bringing a baggie containing an unknown substance into the Scioto County Jail. Kozee claimed it was weed and tobacco. The substance has been sent to BCI for testing.
