Deputies and family members conducted a frantic search on Saturday afternoon after a boy with autism went missing around noon.
The worried mom contacted deputies just after noon to report her son had taken off from their Dutch Ridge Road property, something he had never done before. She also reported that the boy had medical issues.
Deputies requested a K9 unit and a rescue squad to the scene.
They managed to locate the boy about 45 minutes later. He was hiding inside a small cabinet in a camper parked in the front yard. The child showed signs of possible heat exhaustion.
An ambulance transported him to the hospital.
