Officers Respond to Report of Dog in Freezer
Deputies responded to a bizarre report in McDermott after a woman called in to report that an elderly woman was acting erratically. She claimed the woman had a dead dog in her freezer and was walking around with a firearm at her side.
When police tried to get more information, the woman became upset and hung up saying to forget about the call.
Deputies decided to check out what was happening at the home anyway. The elderly woman in question said she believed the caller was her tenant, who had recently gotten out of rehab and had been a “trainwreck” ever since.
The elderly woman did admit to having a dog in her freezer. She said her pet passed away of natural causes, and she’d stowed it in the freezer until she had a chance to dig a proper hole to bury it. Officers advised the woman on the appropriate procedures for evicting the troublesome tenant.
