Troubled Man Reports Rape & Murder Threats
Deputies were called in to help when a Scioto County man experienced a mental health crisis. His family originally called officers just before 1 am to report that he was outside in his underwear after going off his medication and refused to go to the hospital.
Since the woman said he was not violent, officers advised her on how to have him involuntarily committed.
Three hours later, the troubled man called deputies to report someone was lying in a creek bed with a firearm and making threats to kill his family and rape his daughter. He told officers that a person was whispering in his ears.
Officers said call logs showed the man could get violent, throwing objects and screaming at people. Officers spoke to the man’s family, who said he was due to go to a mental health clinic to have a shot. The family did not wish to have a squad respond.
Confused Man Confesses To Shooting
Just after 1 pm, deputies responded to Haverhill for an unusual call. Witnesses said that a clearly confused man had asked someone to call his wife.
However, when they contacted the wife, she reported they had been divorced since 1994. The man was not aggressive, but he did have a gun in his car.
When deputies responded to the scene, he claimed to have been involved in a Lawrence County shooting earlier in the day. However, Lawrence County officials said there had not been any shootings. Additionally, officers in Lawrence County said they were familiar with the man and that he suffered from dementia.
Deputies confiscated the man’s weapon and arranged for an ambulance to transport him for treatment.
