A thief, with a sweet tooth, hit a Washington Township apartment on Tuesday. According to the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office, they received a call about the break-in on Tuesday from a woman who lives on Clayton Court.
When a deputy showed up on the scene, they determined a suspect had gotten in through a window. Missing from the home was jewelry, cash, a camera, and some Tootsie Fruit Chews. It appears they were put in a pillowcase that was missing from the bed. The deputy was able to identify someone staying at a nearby apartment as a suspect.
The deputy went to the apartment and the resident cooperated, letting the police in and telling them that the suspect was there and been staying at the apartment for the past few nights. The deputy quickly spotted the Tootsie Rolls and the pillowcase and was able to recover the rest of the stolen property.
Kenneth Carver, 55, of Otway was arrested and charged with one count of burglary. He’s being held in the Scioto County Jail on a $15,000 bond and will appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court at a later date.
Captain John W. Murphy of the Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is ongoing. If anyone has any information they should contact Deputy Daniel Thompson @ 740-354-7566
