In the wake of recent tragedies, school officials take any threats made by students very seriously. A teen attending a local high school learned that lesson the hard way.
The high school contacted the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office to report the teen had made threats to the school.
A deputy picked the child up and transported them to the station. From there, officers made arrangements to transport the teen to the juvenile detention facility in Chillicothe.
Officers investigated threats at another school as well, this time an elementary school. A child allegedly threatened to bring a gun to school and threatened another child.
The parent of the threatened child said the other child was suspended, but the school failed to inform her about the threats.
School officials confirmed the incident and said the child had been suspended and would undergo a medical evaluation.
