Kroger is the most popular place to shop for groceries in Portsmouth and also one of the more popular spots for troublemakers to hang out.
Just before 9 p.m., employees reported a shirtless man attempting to fight customers in the store. Officers spoke with the man and barred him from the property.
The next morning, a caller reported an apparently high man with tattoos on his face reaching into vehicles in the Kroger Parking Lot. Officers took a man into custody for possessing drug abuse instruments and arranged for his vehicle to be towed.
Around 3:30 pm, a woman called PPD to say she flipped off and cussed out a man she felt was driving too fast in the Kroger parking lot and he came at her with her his vehicle.
She claimed he then rolled down his window and said he hoped she died. However, when officers checked the security footage, it showed the driver going slowly through the parking lot, stopping for the woman, and trying to go around her. She then threw her hands up in the air.
The video also showed her walking in front of another vehicle without stopping. Police advised her to be careful walking into traffic and to use crosswalks and advised her not to file false claims.
Another hotspot for problems is the Speedway on Gallia. Officers headed there around 4:30 a.m. after a caller said there was a car full of drunk teenagers parked at the pumps asking people to buy them booze and cigarettes.
Officers discovered all of the kids were from Kentucky and that the driver was not intoxicated. However, one of the kids was drunk. A friend gave him a ride home.
