Two fishermen spotted a body in the Ohio River on an evening fishing trip. Just after 10 pm, deputies were called in for a report that two men in a boat spotted a body in the river. The pair backed away and contacted 9-1-1.
Officers responded to the scene and got in the boat with the fishermen, who took them to where they found the body.
Lawrence County Deputies called in Russell Fire Department to help retrieve the body, which they transported to the Ironton Boat Ramp.
A local funeral home picked up the body to hold for the coroner’s office. No further information on the identity of the victim was provided in the report.
