Failure to keep a tidy car helped land a man behind bars on major drug charges. Ohio State Troopers seized $20,000 in meth during a traffic stop in Scioto County on St. Rt. 823.
Around noon on Sunday, officers pulled over a vehicle with Kentucky plates for a traffic stop. However, they noticed something strange. There was cocaine residue all over the passenger seat.
That’s when troopers decided to pat down driver Antoine Phelps.
They discovered $20,000 in meth in the 33-year-old Akron man’s pockets.
Deputies busted him and took him directly to the Scioto County Jail. He’s facing charges of drug trafficking and possession of methamphetamine. If he’s convicted, he’ll face up to 22 years in prison.
