Folks with addiction issues seem to be drawn to some local businesses, and one of them is Kroger. Just after 5 pm, witnesses reported a woman overdosing in front of the supermarket on Gay Street.
Officers and medics responded to the scene. The woman came to and refused medical treatment from EMS. Officers left her in the care of family members.
Speedway is another place frequented by those with addiction issues. Around 2:30 am, witnesses reported an apparently high woman on Kendall near the Speedway. When officers spoke to her, she said she was staying at the Royal Inn and just out for a walk.
However, officers returned a few minutes later and called the drug crisis response team to assist the woman. She left with counselors to seek treatment.
Officers and EMS responded to 8th Street after a report that a woman had overdosed. The woman refused to speak with officers and members of the drug crisis team.
