Officers headed to the Speedeemart on Center Street after multiple people reported that the business’ door was locked and no one was there. Dispatch attempted to call the business, but no one answered.
A deputy headed to the store to see what was happening. While the deputy was there a woman arrived in an Uber saying that she’d gotten a call instructing her to lock the store and go out back. She said she had to take some money from the store to use an Uber to leave. The woman then returned to the store and said she was trying to reach the manager with keys to get back in.
Officers noted the pumps had been left on, and customers were still able to get gas. When the officer spoke to the manager, he said she was unaware that the employee had taken money from the store.
Police detained the employee and took her to the station for questioning.
