Not even the wheels on your car are safe in Portsmouth! Brazen thieves are on the prowl, swiping everything from tires to identities—and even entire vehicles!
WHEELS GONE IN A FLASH!
Just after 6 AM, a shocked resident on 19th Street called police after discovering their car stripped of its wheels and tires! The crooks made off with at least $400 worth of rubber, leaving the vehicle helplessly sitting on blocks.
MISSING OR REPOSSESSED?
Meanwhile, over on Norfolk Street, another unlucky car owner woke up to a nightmare—their vehicle was nowhere to be found! The driver, who had parked it after a late-night shift at a local nursing home, was left wondering if they were the victim of a car thief or a repo man. They planned to check with the dealership before filing a stolen vehicle report.
IDENTITY THIEVES STRIKE TWICE!
The crime spree didn’t stop at cars. Scioto County Sheriff’s Deputies took two separate reports of identity fraud. One Frederick Road resident got a chilling call from their bank—someone had walked in and tried to cash a check in their name! Over on State Route 104, a woman discovered that a scammer tried to take out a student loan using her identity!
KIDS ON THE RUN?
And in a bizarre twist, a State Route 139 resident reported a trio of young suspects breaking into his truck! Deputies raced to the scene and spotted some kids near Rubyville Church, but after searching, they found no stolen goods. Were these kids the culprits, or just in the wrong place at the wrong time?
With thieves lurking everywhere, Scioto County residents are on high alert! Lock your doors, check your bank accounts, and keep an eye on your wheels! 🚔💨
