Wild Pursuit Through Proctorville & Huntington Leads to Arrest
Proctorville authorities had a front-row seat to some real-life action movie drama when a routine surveillance operation erupted into a high-speed chase that ended with guns, drugs, and a suspect in cuffs!
The chaos began when law enforcement was keeping tabs on a known drug hotspot in an apartment on Twp. Rd 1055. Thanks to a Blink security camera feed provided by a concerned neighbor, officers had video evidence of suspicious hand-to-hand drug transactions happening over the past few weeks.
While watching the footage in real time, an officer spotted a black Honda Civic pulling into the driveway, engaging in yet another shady exchange with an apartment resident. Moments later, the vehicle sped off, unknowingly heading straight into the sights of law enforcement.
THE CHASE IS ON!
Positioned nearby at an old U.S. Bank parking lot, an officer quickly spotted the Honda at a stop sign and began tailing it. The driver, later identified as Marshall T. Cullum of Huntington, blew through a stop sign, giving police enough reason to light him up for a traffic stop.
But instead of pulling over, Cullum hit the gas—launching into a dangerous police pursuit down State Route 7, barreling toward the 31st Street Bridge. With officers in pursuit, the reckless driver ran a red light, narrowly dodging cars at the intersection before swerving into oncoming lanes to pass traffic on the bridge.
Once across the river and into Huntington, Cullum finally gave up, pulling over on 3rd Avenue—where officers ordered him out at gunpoint and placed him in cuffs.
BUSTED: LOADED GUN & DRUGS DISCOVERED
Huntington Police arrived on the scene, searched the vehicle, and made a startling discovery:
A loaded gun with a full magazine
A bag of marijuana
His phone, now in police custody
When questioned, Cullum had a weak excuse for the chase, telling officers he fled because he didn’t have insurance and didn’t want his car towed. As for the drugs? He claimed he had just “gotten it from a buddy”—but conveniently couldn’t remember his name or the street where he made the pickup.
Cullum now faces multiple charges, with authorities vowing to bring down the local drug network he was connected to. HPD’s drug unit seized the evidence, and Cullum will have his day in court soon.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU SUSPECT DRUG ACTIVITY IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD
Report Suspicious Behavior – If you see a pattern of strange visitors, frequent short visits, or hand-to-hand transactions, call local law enforcement.
Use Security Cameras – Like in this case, home surveillance footage can provide crucial evidence for police investigations.
Stay Safe – Never confront suspected dealers or buyers directly. Let law enforcement handle the situation.
This high-speed chase might be over, but authorities are just getting started in their crackdown on drugs in the region!
