The man was transported to SOMC by EMT Ohio ambulance. The injury he sustained was described as a possible broken leg. Despite the sad circumstance, the fact that he survived being hit at 70 mph is simply miraculous. It is almost as if you can feel the officer’s utter shock and surprise as he cleared the scene and announced the injuries to the dispatcher.
Exactly why the stove was near a window and how it fell remains a mystery.
Great job by the first responders. In response to the call over the air, even Portsmouth Medic 3 headed out to help. Since the other medical service was already on its way, they were sent back.
From the time the incident was reported until the patient was taken to the hospital took approximately 10 minutes.
A sincere wish for the gentleman’s fast recovery and great work all around.
