1. AEP Worker Shot at While Checking on Lines
An AEP worker contacted deputies at 5 pm on Sunday to report that someone fired shots at him while he was patrolling lines on Blue Run Road.
Officers took information for a report.
2. Coyote Hunter Reports Shots Fired
Scioto County Deputies investigated multiple reports of shots fired on Saturday evening.
The first call came in just before 9 pm. A resident of Coal Bank Hollow Road reported hearing rapid gunfire outside her home. A deputy checked the area but did not hear any shots or see anything suspicious.
At 10:30 pm, a caller reported shots fired near the church on Fairgrounds Road. The caller said she could smell gun smoke. Deputies checked the area but did not see any signs of shots fired.
A few minutes later a Scioto Street caller said neighbors had shot off multiple round of ammo and were blaring music.
When officers spoke to the people, they admitted they were shooting in the creek bed on their property. Officers cautioned them about shooting so late in the evening and suggested they take their target practice to a shooting range.
Just after midnight, a Stockham Road man told deputies he was coyote hunting when a neighbor shot a gun off the back porch.
The neighbor said he didn’t realize anyone was on his property. The hunter promised he would let his neighbors know next time he went hunting.
3. Shots Reported on 3rd Street
Officers received multiple reports of shots fired in the wee hours of Sunday morning.
Just before 2:30 am, a witness in the 1600 block of 3rd Street said he heard three gunshots. The caller said it happened after two men and a woman walked by his home.
Officers were unable to locate any signs of anything suspicious.
Half an hour later, another caller reported hearing a single gunshot in the 400 block of Glover. PPD and Shawnee State University Police checked the area but could find no sign of anything unusual.
4. Gunshots Investigated at Grant and Lincoln Street
Just after 8 pm, officers responded to the area of Grant and Lincoln Street after witnesses reported hearing three gunshots.
Multiple units responded to the scene to investigate and collected evidence at the scene.
