Aldi Shoplifter Throws Down With Off-Duty Police Officer
Just after 9:30 am, officers responded to Aldi Foods on Gallia for a report of an off-duty police officer fighting with a shoplifter.
The off-duty officer detained the suspect until on-duty units arrived to take a report. The suspect claimed he was dizzy and disoriented, so police sent for an ambulance to check on the suspect. Medics cleared the man.

Officers took photos of the $30 worth of merchandise the man allegedly tried to steal and booked him into the Scioto County Jail.
Another shoplifter hit a local store at 3 pm, this time, the Family Dollar on 11th Street. Witnesses said a man wearing a mask tried to steal from the store and took off on foot. Officers were unable to locate him.
