Arrest in Wayne Hills: Man Accused of Beating Woman in Front of Children

A domestic violence call turned into an arrest in Wayne Hills after a woman told police her child’s father had attacked her in front of their kids. 

“He Beat Me in Front of My Kids” 

Just after 3 p.m., Portsmouth Police responded to the Wayne Hills neighborhood after a terrified woman called 911, saying her “baby daddy” had been beating her and was still at her house. 

When officers arrived, they found the suspect outside the home and quickly took him into custody. 

Arrest and Charges 

Police identified the suspect as Derick Campbell, who was booked into the Scioto County Jail on charges of:

Campbell appeared in Portsmouth Municipal Court, where a hearing was set for December 2. Despite the serious allegations, he was released on his own recognizance, meaning he didn’t have to post bond to leave jail.
