A frightening assault report sent deputies scrambling to a local motel after a man called 911 saying he had just been attacked and could not see out of one eye.
Deputies with the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office rushed to the Super 8 after the victim reported the assault and told dispatch which room he believed the suspect was in.
Ambulance Held Back Until Scene Was Safe
Because the call involved a violent assault and unknown suspects, dispatch placed a squad on standby until deputies could clear the scene and determine it was safe for medics to enter.
Within about 15 minutes, a deputy advised that an ambulance could respond. However, dispatch was unable to get an immediate response from local EMS and instead called in a private service, Portsmouth Ambulance.
Suspects Already Gone
As deputies investigated, they learned the alleged suspects had already fled the area. The suspects were reportedly associated with a silver or gray SUV with a white sticker on the back windshield, but the vehicle was gone before deputies arrived.
No arrests were made at the scene.
Investigation Ongoing
Deputies took information for a report, documenting the victim’s account and the suspect vehicle description. Any further action will depend on whether additional evidence or witnesses come forward.
For now, the call ends like many late-night motel incidents do—with injuries reported, suspects gone, and investigators left piecing together what happened after the fact.
