Shortly before 7 pm on Saturday evening, calls rang out for a wreck involving a 4-wheeler that collided with a vehicle on Raden Hazelbaker Rd.
Volunteers from Union, Otway, and Rarden Townships quickly responded.
Additionally, 2 squads from Portsmouth Ambulance responded to the scene.
According to initial reports, the male driver of the Honda ATV was thrown from the vehicle and struck a tree. A female passenger, as well as a child passenger, was also said to have injuries.
Air Evac was called to land at a nearby park. However, it’s reported that the male had become combative and aggressive. A member of the OSP was called to assist at the landing zone.
It was reported that the patient refused to get into the helicopter.
It was determined that they would transport him via ambulance to SOMC where the helicopter would reposition. OSP said they would follow the squad to provide assistance at the Emergency Room if needed.
The child rider of the ATV did not require emergency transportation to the hospital.
OSP reported that they believed alcohol was a contributing factor to this wreck.
No word on the condition of the driver of the vehicle.
Adkins Towing took possession of the ATV.
SCDN will continue to monitor the situation as it develops, and we will provide updates as needed.
